About this lesson

Welcome to Beyond Graduate School, the only career training platform designed for master’s students. We know that you have a lot of questions about how to build a career where you are paid for your education and training. The resources in this platform will help you identify career opportunities and learn proven job search strategies so that you can make the most out of your investment in graduate school. Watch this short video to learn how Beyond Graduate School can set you up for career success.

1. The four stages of a career transition are Evaluate, Connect, Apply, and Build. A successful job search means moving through all of the four stages because skipping steps leads to frustration and failure. Take a few minutes to write down your career goals (it’s o.k. if you don’t know yet), evaluate the strength of your network, and write down a list of the questions you have about your job search.

 

2. Based on your reflection, which stage of the job search are you at? What are your most pressing questions right now? Spend 10 minutes exploring the lessons in the Deep Dives, and identify which lessons are the most relevant to your job search. Make note of them so you can watch them once you’ve finished this course.

 

3. Make a plan for completing the lessons in the Job Search Strategy Course. You will need to find and set aside thirty-minute blocks of time to complete the lessons. Make sure to schedule time in your calendar and set a reminder.
